HOW ARE PROVIDERS USING TELEMEDICINE AND MOBILE HEALTH TO CONNECT WITH PATIENTS?

In today’s society, consumers rule. And this is no different for the healthcare industry. Now, healthcare systems are putting patients first by designing new methods of care delivery that appeal to the consumer.

Mobile health and telemedicine are two areas where consumers are reaching out and taking charge of their own healthcare like never before. Emerging technologies that improve the efficiency of care delivery and give greater control to patients have a broad appeal with today’s healthcare consumers.  This demand is driving doctors to embrace  these new technologies. Bridging  the gaps between the patient and doctor is what really matters to consumers, and that interaction is more important than the underlying technology.

“It’s all about the channels, not so much the healthcare technology,” John R. Palumbo, president of MD Aligne, said in an article for Healthcare IT News. Palumbo urges his fellow executives to design telemedicine programs that address the consumer’s needs and not the needs of the expert.
