EHR USE BOOSTS EARLY DETECTION OF GROWTH DISORDERS.

Early detection of growth disorders has always been a cornerstone of pediatric care. Incorporating automated growth monitoring (AGM) into EHR systems appears to increase the rate of detection in children.

One research letter compared the AGM to standard growth monitoring (SGM) from 2008–2009 and used the previous three year period (2005–2008) for comparison. The rate of detection using AGM was 0.9 per 1,000 children verses 0.1 per 1,000 children before AGM was introduced.
