Preemies: Now and Then

Sheridan Senior Vice President of Children’s Services, Dr. Richard Auerbach, M.D., emphasizes the parental role in NICU care decision-making. Sheridan is the second largest neonatology group in the country.

Dr. Auerbach joined Sheridan Healthcare as senior vice president of children`s services in 1996 when his group practice merged with Sheridan to create the company’s Neonatology and Pediatric Division. Auerbach was the director of nurseries for the Memorial Healthcare System for 22 years.  During this time, he also served as chairman of the department of pediatrics, and as secretary-treasurer, vice chief, and chief of staff of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Auerbach graduated from the University of Maryland and received his medical degree from the  University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School. He completed his pediatric residency and neonatal fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital.  Auerbach also holds a master’s degree in leadership at the Huizenga School of Business, Nova Southeastern University.
