Catherine B. Polera, D.O., chief medical officer for the Division of Emergency Medicine, joined Sheridan Healthcare in 2008. Dr. Polera is currently the chief medical officer overseeing daily operations of Sheridan’s Division of Emergency Services. Polera completed her dual residency program for internal and emergency medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. She obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri, and her master’s degree in public health at St Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to joining Sheridan, Polera was the chief medical officer at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, and has also held the position of chief medical officer and vice president of professional services at MEDEXCEL USA, Inc. in the northeast. In 2012, Dr. Polera was honored as the Most Influential Business Woman by the South Florida Business Journal.
